Complete The Plot
Overview
"Completing the plot" is the process of transforming a series of echos on a radar into usable information.
By completing a manual radar plot, you can gain information about a target vessel such as:
- Range
- Bearing
- Course
- Speed
- CPA (Closest point of approach)
- TCPA (Time to the closest point of approach)
- Aspect
Where This Applies
Learning how to complete a manual radar plot is an essential part of any maritime training, whether you are learning to navigate a supertanker or a sailing yacht. Knowing how the electronic equipment performs its calculations is vital so that you can understand its limitations.
